Kadlekalu Usuli Recipe
Ingredients:
- Kadlekalu (Black Chickpeas): 500 grams, soaked overnight and cooked
- Grated Coconut: 1 tablespoon
- Green Chillies: 6, slit
- Mustard Seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Urad Dal: 1 teaspoon
- Curry Leaves: A few sprigs
- Lemon Juice: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: To taste
- Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Hing (Asafoetida): A pinch
- Turmeric Powder: A pinch
Instructions:
Cook Kadlekalu: Soak the black chickpeas overnight and pressure cook them until soft.
Prepare Seasoning: Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and allow them to splutter. Add urad dal and sauté until golden brown. Then add hing, curry leaves, and green chillies. Sauté for a few seconds.
Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked kadlekalu to the pan, followed by turmeric powder and salt. Stir well to combine.
Add Coconut: Stir in the grated coconut and cook for a few more minutes.
Finish: Turn off the heat and add lemon juice. Mix well and garnish with fresh curry leaves if desired.
Serve: Serve hot as a side dish with rice or as a snack.
