Melogara OR Pindamiriam (pepper Kootu)
Ingredients: (for two people)
Green gram dal (hesaru bele) - 1/2 cup
spinach - as per taste
ground nuts - 1/4 cup
For grinding :
Red chillies - 4 or 5
pepper - 1 tsp
urad dal - 5 or 6 tsps
dhania or coriander seeds - same as urad dal
coconut (if wished) - little
Fry all this in oil, and grind with water
Method:
Boil green gram dhal and groundnut, and add spinach to it. Once the spinach boils, add the ground masala. Very little tamarind water (if not, lemon juice) to this. Salt as required to be added. Boil well and add seasoning of mustard seeds and asafoetida.
Eat hot with rice or chapattis.
