Onion Bhaji
Ingredients:
- 2 large Onions, finely sliced
- 1 cup Gram Flour (Chickpea Flour/Besan)
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
- Salt to taste
- Water (as needed to make the batter)
- Oil (for frying)
Instructions:
Prepare the Batter:
- In a large bowl, combine the gram flour, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, hing, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the mixture, whisking continuously to form a smooth, thick batter.
Add the Onions:
- Add the finely sliced onions to the batter.
- Mix well to ensure the onions are thoroughly coated with the batter.
Fry the Bhajis:
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully drop spoonfuls of the onion-batter mixture into the oil.
- Fry the bhajis in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Remove the bhajis with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve hot with chutney or dipping sauce of your choice.
