Hunise Avalakki Recipe
Ingredients:
- Thick Poha (Flattened Rice): 1 cup
- Tamarind Water: 1 cup (thick consistency)
- Rasam Powder: 1 tbsp
- White Til (Sesame) Powder: 1 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
- Dry Copra (Dried Coconut): 2 tbsp, grated
- Jaggery: 1 tbsp
- Salt: To taste
- Channa Dal: 1 tbsp
- Urad Dal - 1 Tbsp
- Curry Leaves: A few
- Groundnuts: 2 tbsp
- Coriander Leaves: For garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare Poha: Coarsely grind thick poha and set aside.
- Tamarind Mixture: In a bowl, mix tamarind water with rasam powder, white til powder, turmeric powder, dry copra, jaggery, and salt. Stir well.
- Soak Poha: Add the ground poha to the tamarind mixture and soak for half an hour, allowing the poha to absorb the flavors.
- Seasoning: In a pan, heat oil and add channa dal, urad dal, curry leaves, groundnuts, and a pinch of turmeric. Fry until the dal turns golden brown and the groundnuts are roasted.
- Mix & Garnish: Add the soaked poha mixture to the seasoning and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.
