Huli Thovve Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Channa Dal: 2 tbsp
  • Cinnamon: 1” piece
  • Red Chillies: As per taste
  • Coriander Seeds: 2 tbsp
  • Tuvar Dal: 1 cup
  • Ridge Gourd: ½ kg
  • Tamarind: Lime-sized piece, soaked in water
  • Coconut: As needed
  • Salt: To taste

Instructions:

  1. Roast: In a pan, heat a little oil and roast channa dal, cinnamon, red chillies, and coriander seeds until fragrant.
  2. Grind: Allow the roasted ingredients to cool slightly, then grind them with coconut and water to form a smooth paste.
  3. Cook Dal & Veggies: Boil tuvar dal and ridge gourd until soft.
  4. Combine: Add the ground masala paste, tamarind water, and salt to the boiled dal and veggies. Mix well.
  5. Simmer: Cook for an additional 4 minutes on low heat.
  6. Serve: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
