Coconut Burfi

Soft, mildly chewy and rich with the natural sweetness of coconut — this simple burfi was a staple during festivals and special occasions.

🛒 Ingredients:

  • Fresh grated coconut

  • Sugar

  • Cardamom powder

  • Ghee

 Method:

  1. In a thick-bottomed pan, add grated coconut and sugar.

  2. Cook on low flame, stirring continuously until the sugar melts and blends with the coconut.

  3. Add a little ghee and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.

  4. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

  5. Once the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan, transfer to a greased plate.

  6. Flatten evenly and allow it to cool.

  7. Cut into desired shapes.

 A Note from Tradition:

Often made as a quick sweet offering during poojas, coconut burfi required very few ingredients — but always tasted festive
