Tamarind Rice (Puliyogare)

 


Bold, tangy and deeply flavourful — Puliyogare is a classic festival and travel dish.

🛒 Ingredients:

  • Cooked rice

  • Tamarind extract

  • Puliyogare powder

  • Mustard seeds

  • Peanuts

  • Curry leaves

  • Oil

  • Salt

 Method:

  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds and peanuts.

  2. Add tamarind extract and cook until thick.

  3. Add puliyogare powder and salt.

  4. Mix in cooked rice.

  5. Cook for a few minutes until well combined.

 A Note from Tradition:

Puliyogare was a popular prasadam offering in temples across Karnataka.
