Payasa (Kheer)
A comforting bowl of payasa (kheer) has always marked celebration — whether it was a birthday, festival or simply a good day.
🛒 Ingredients:
Vermicelli / Rice
Milk
Sugar
Cardamom powder
Cashews
Raisins
Ghee
Method:
Roast vermicelli in a little ghee until golden.
Boil milk and add roasted vermicelli.
Cook until soft.
Add sugar and cardamom powder.
Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and add to the payasa.
A Note from Tradition:
Payasa was almost always the first sweet served at family functions in Karnataka households.
